NI Road Improvements Cotton Donaghadee

Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Minister Chris Hazzard has announced that a £245,000 road improvement scheme at the village of Cotton is scheduled to begin on Monday 1 August.

The scheme will include carriageway and footway resurfacing at Dam Road, Bailie Road, Bailie Terrace, Bailie Gardens and Bailie Park in the village. Work is expected to be substantially completed by the end of September.

Minister Chris Hazzard said: “This significant investment will greatly improve 3.25 km of carriageway and a number of associated footways. The scheme will directly benefit local residents and visitors to the village of Cotton for many years to come.”

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to put in place temporary traffic signals. A road closure will also be necessary during the final stages of the improvements.

Local access will be maintained and all diversions and restrictions will be clearly signposted. Drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when travelling in the area.

As with all improvement schemes of this type severe weather may impact on the planned dates. Transport NI will keep the public informed of any change.
